This is why your teen needs to suffer through their bad choices

Hi Reader

I heard someone say something on a podcast the other day. "It's not our job to make our kids happy. It's our job to show them they can feel content no matter what life throws at them."

And that hit me pretty hard, and it's such a great reminder about what our job is as parents, so we're including a few articles this week that address this issue. Remember, failure and experiencing something hard is where all the growth happens. It can be tough to watch, but it's so worth it.

Thanks for being a part of our community.

How To Have A More Peaceful Relationship With Your Teen – Guaranteed

From a parent that's been there: Many parents find the teen years extremely challenging, but there are simple steps you can implement that can preserve your sanity and enrich the relationship with your pre-teen or teen. While it’s normal to experience some turbulence during this time, you also want to preserve your long-term relationship.

Middle School, The Hardest Years of Your Life As A Mom (So Far)

I’ll be honest, once my kids were sleeping through the night, potty trained and past separation anxiety I thought the hard part of parenting was over. I mean it absolutely feels like if you can survive the sleep deprivation that comes with those early years, you can survive anything. Then along comes middle school–and you realize things are going to get harder. Here are some tips to help you get through.

Trying to help your teen become more independent? This can help!

This is so simple but so effective. Simply write down each a.m. what your teen needs to get done or reminders. When they complete it, they move the tab over. It helps with accountability, reduces nagging, and encourages independence.
