It can be so hard when your teen pushes you away, but it's a natural part of adolescence. They want to become independent, but they still need us too.

That's why we love today's featured article by the author of Parenting in the Third Stage. She states that before you write your teen off, maybe you can try something else. You can lean in. Stay available. Light up every time they enter a room no matter how grumpy they are. Listen when they vent.

The goal is to strike a balance between connection and giving them space. It can be challenging because it may feel like rejection, but instead, try to recognize that teens often lack strong communication skills and struggle to process their emotions. Being a steady and present force for them can get you through these tough times.
