When you're going through a rough patch with your teen - try this!

In this issue:

Hi Reader,

There have been times with my teens when I've felt hopeless, like there really wasn't a single thing going right. It seemed like all they did was make poor choices, act out, get in trouble, and blame anyone but themselves.

Parenting teens can feel like an emotional rollercoaster—full of twists, turns, and days (weeks, months) that test every ounce of your patience. But at some point, maybe during one of those stomach-wrenching free falls common on rollercoasters, I discovered that a simple shift in perspective can help.

No matter how much we think is wrong, there is always, always something going right.

Instead of focusing on all the things you may not like very much about your teen during those tough times, try instead to focus on what you appreciate about your teen. Yes, I know, it might be hard at first, but I promise you that kid you love with all your heart is in there somewhere, and you are truly grateful they are yours.

Gratitude won’t solve every conflict, but it can soften the edges and remind you why the connection is worth fighting for.

We got this.
