It's a Teen's Job to Push You Away

In this issue:

Hey friends:

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Recent federal data show that suicidal thoughts, plans, and attempts among U.S. teens have declined since 2021, but completed teen suicide deaths remain high and access to care is still limited. Our goal at PTT is to give parents the information they need to better parent their teens, including real-life experiences from other parents. This article is one of our most widely-read and informative pieces. Even if you don't think you need it, we hope you will read it in case someone in your life does. Stay safe, and remember, if you or someone you know is considering suicide, help is there. For crisis support, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7.

Until Next Time,

Whitney and the PTT Team

Raising Teens Means Always Staying Available for a Part-time

Teens, man. They have a way of presenting as if they don’t need us at all. Their toughest period in life is encased in the hardest matter to move towards. Sometimes that tough exterior convinces us as parents that they are just fine without us. That we are free to go and do and build, and this is the perfect time to do it. Because clearly we aren’t needed here.
